Jeffrey Thompson ~Writer of the Week~

Jeffrey Thompson is a writer who writes Fantasy/ Fiction Novels, illustrates the cover art, writes and draw Graphic Novels. According to him, He would fall into the category of being an Indie Author.

His current Fantasy novel series is entitled the ‘Axe of Fate’.

1. Please Describe Jeffrey Thompson:

Answer: Jeffrey Thompson is passionate about storytelling. He resides in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He is employed by Akebono, but in his free time, he devotes himself to writing, his art, and spending time with his wife and three children.

2. Please Describe your skills:

Answer: My current Fantasy Novel Series is entitled the ‘Axe of Fate’.  The first book, “Axe of Fate: Goldenfields” is a tale of a powerful demon, named Conath, who commissioned the forging of a weapon would allow him to enslave worlds; thus the Axe of Fate was born. However before Conath could take possession of the axe, it was pulled from the forges and turned against him. Enraged Conath threated to destroy everything; it was at that moment that the seas flooded into the northern lands and immediately froze. Unable to break through the magical ice protecting those responsible for the theft and the threat of his new weapon turned against him, Conath fled the world of Onviness.

The Axe of Fate seeks to return to the hands of its master; the one who pulled it from the forges.
Over time the land that was exposed form the seas withdrawal into the northern lands, produces a new civilization, that comes to be known as Chivelistine. The Axe chooses Gavista Goldenfields to wield it in an effort to return to the hands of its master. Joined by Karvian, the Commander of the Chivelestine Army; Gavista has plunged into a massive new world of discovery away from her sheltered life in the castle. A world of demons, dragons, and looming destruction by the thawing of magical ice.

3. What inspired to pursue your passion?

Answer: Honestly, I don’t believe I had much of a choice. I see it as an unquenchable fire that I may be able to suppress for a while; however, it will always seem to find a way out of me. To deny it brings misery, to embrace the passion is to take flight on the wings of joy.

4. What are the difficulties you faced and how did you overcome?

Answer: One of the greatest difficulties I have experienced, and still do at times, is the fear that comes from putting yourself and your work out there for the world to see. I liken it to skydiving. You stand at the open door and stare out into the huge expanse that you are about to enter. the anxiety grows until you finally just take the leap. Then there you are. Enjoying the exhilaration, then you turn your attention to the parachute on your back. Is it packed correctly? Will it catch you and bring you safely down or are you about to feel the effects of failure. Which brings my directly into…

5. Your message to the audience/beginners?

Answer: My message for beginners. Don’t be afraid to fail. You can find story after story of how champions found their motivation to succeed through the pains of failure. Learn from them, and grow.
